Holographic memory
Today's CDs and DVDs store data at the surface of the discs. But scientists are working on a new optical storage method called holographic memory which enables data storage on the entire volume of the disc rather than on the surface only. This 3D storage method may help to store very large data on small surface and will offer faster data transfer times.
